Defeat Gilgamesh to Get Genji Gloves
Get Genji Gloves by defeating Gilgamesh in the Chapter 5 encounter initiated from the airship deck, then equip them on a physical damage dealer to increase their critical-hit rate by 50%. The fake Genji Gloves chest in Siren's Tower during Chapter 1 does not award the accessory.
Wait for the Later Airship Encounter
The demo covers the opening through Chapter 1, while the Genji Gloves reward comes from Gilgamesh's Chapter 5 encounter. Treat the gloves as a full-game equipment goal. If you are still playing the demo, focus on the upgrades available in that opening chapter.
Gilgamesh's appearance at Siren's Tower is a scripted early encounter involving a fake chest. Returning to that chest is not the route to the accessory. Continue progressing toward the later encounter on the airship deck.
Follow the Genji Gloves Reward Route
- Progress to Chapter 5, when Gilgamesh's later reward encounter becomes available from the airship deck.
- Initiate the Gilgamesh encounter from the airship deck.
- Defeat Gilgamesh to obtain Genji Gloves as the encounter's accessory reward.
Give the Gloves to a Critical-Hit Attacker
Genji Gloves increase critical-hit rate by 50%. They are especially valuable for physical damage builds that exploit critical hits and stagger windows. Choose the wearer around the attacks you actually use, with priority going to a damage dealer whose build already rewards critical hits.
Rain is a useful candidate when you build him for physical damage. An endgame setup pairs his Genji Gloves with a Sephiroth Vision build against Ultima Weapon. Use that pairing as a direction for a damage-focused Rain, then weigh the gloves against the equipment your current party needs.

Choose the next upgrade around the problem your party is having. If reaching a stagger window is difficult, prioritize tools that help create that opening. Once you obtain Genji Gloves, reassess your accessories around the attacker you want to capitalize on it.
